Shooting Super 8 in Iceland

Just got back from a 2 week trip shooting super 8 all around Iceland. It was an incredible journey, renting a little VW polo and traveling around the whole ring of iceland. Shot 4 rolls of ektachrome 100d, and 3 rolls of 500t color negative. Going to cross process the 100d to really POP the blues, yellows and greens of the insane landscapes. Shot all with my new NIZO 481… Can’t wait to see the 54fps shots of humpback whales that swam right by our boat! If you haven’t been… it’s a trip you just have to do!

and was wondering if you had any thoughts. How did shooting negative work out? Any advice, observations, etc, would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey Dirk,

The nizo is great. My only concerns:

    1. only reads 40/160 asa. so it rates 200asa at 160 and 500asa at 160.
    2. shorter zoom lens than my previous nizo pro.
    3. i was hoping it would be smaller for travel. it wasn’t as small as I was hoping and might as well have just gotten a nizo 800, and got better compatibility.
    4. no macro.

besides that, if those things aren’t important to you, its a great little camera.

If you need to buy a camera, talk to jean-louis. He is the best guy I know for bolex and any other cameras. Only guy I trust, and I’ve been through a number of technicians.

    “Jean-Louis Seguin” ,

    All the best!
